A quiz helps you reach more people, keep them engaged, and collect data to nurture them in a personalised way, selling more products or services.
For that to work, though, you can’t treat it as a standalone resource. You must build a system around your quiz. Webhooks are one way of doing that, getting separate tools to communicate, exchange information, or trigger actions.
So, we’ll show you how to create a webhook for your quiz, step by step.
Benefits of building a quiz lead magnet

If you’re still wondering “Why a quiz, though?”… think of it as a lead magnet on steroids (= a free resource you offer to your audience in exchange for their email address, so you can build relationships and contact them directly):
- Sought-after and valuable – Traditional PDF lead magnets are so overused, generic, and static that their landing pages only convert at 3-10%. Quizzes, on the contrary, offer an engaging and personalised experience. No wonder they reach 30-50%!
- Versatile – You can create a quiz for ALL kinds of businesses, online opportunities, and goals. They come in various formats too, from scorecards to personality quizzes and readiness tests (and more!)
- Real-time – Unlike resources that gather dust in your audience’s Downloads folder or inbox, quizzes are dynamic and happen in real-time, keeping more people engaged while delivering a tonne of value
- Data – Through your questions, you’ll learn all about your participants (for example, you can use a quiz for market research or to understand each lead’s situation)
- Personalisation – Your quiz can segment your participants depending on their answers (for example, what’s their biggest challenge? What’s their role within that company?). Then, you get to tailor the next steps accordingly, like nurturing them with different automated email sequences. Much more effective than sending the same content to everyone!
- Selling more – Use your quiz insights to make the right offer to the right person at the right time (like recommending the best digital product for them, inviting them to the most useful in-person event, or offering them a call to discuss their results)
With ScoreApp, you can build engaging quizzes and even a full funnel that keeps selling in the background for you.

What is a webhook?

A webhook is like an automated message sent from one platform or system to another when something specific happens. This allows them to communicate, exchange specific information, and trigger an action (that’s why webhooks are particularly useful for marketing automation).
For example, you could create a webhook to ensure that, whenever someone completes your quiz, they start receiving your “email sequence A”. Or maybe they’re sent to landing pages with different webinar invitations depending on their results.
Should I use webhooks for my quiz?

We’ll be honest: it depends.
Webhooks are great but setting them up requires some technical skills, especially coding. Plus, you might not even need one.
ScoreApp offers direct integrations with lots of third-party tools, from CRMs to email marketing platforms and more. On top of that, the Zapier integration can connect it with +7000 apps.
So, we only recommend using webhooks for your quiz IF:
- You can’t find a direct integration with your chosen tools and you don’t wish to use Zapier
- You need to create more complex custom workflows
- You’re tech-savvy or have a team that can take care of this
Does that still sound like you? Then, let’s look at how you can create free webhooks with ScoreApp.
How to use webhooks with your ScoreApp quiz lead magnet in 5 steps

Remember: webhooks are about connecting separate tools and triggering specific actions. So, let’s start by identifying what that looks like for you in practice.
Step 1: Get clear on your quiz and post-quiz goals
What do you want to achieve? This will impact not only the type of quiz you create but also the tools you connect it to.
In most cases, online quizzes are used as a lead magnet at the start of a funnel (and by funnel we simply mean the journey your audience goes through to eventually buy from you). This usually involves connecting your ScoreApp quiz to:
- Your CRM, to automatically add specific information about each lead and then manage them accordingly
- Your email marketing platform, to trigger different sequences and nurture your leads in a personalised way until they’re ready to buy
But of course, you might want to use another type of tool, send your new leads to different landing pages depending on their results (to sell a low-ticket product straightaway, for instance), or something else altogether.
So, start from your goal and work your way backwards to get clear on the right steps and tools.
Step 2: Set up your ScoreApp quiz lead magnet
Now that you’ve identified those objectives, plan the right quiz angle for it.
- Come up with your quiz idea – Your quiz should be something your audience wants while also feeding into your goal. For example, if you’re a financial advisor looking to generate more leads and pre-qualify them before a call, you could lead with “Are you ready to work with a financial advisor?”. Are you an online course creator aiming to grow your audience? Consider an engaging “Discover Your Entrepreneur Profile” quiz
- Build your quiz landing page – Write compelling copy that speaks directly to your target audience, and lead with the benefit of taking your quiz. What will they get from it? Make them curious and excited! Don’t forget to include strong calls to action and eye-catching visual elements like photos or videos. With ScoreApp, you can simply use our intuitive drag-and-drop builder or customise a pre-made template
- Create your quiz – Only include questions (around 5-15) that are engaging to answer and that give you the data you need. Keep your quiz varied with different formats, like yes/no, sliding scales, and image-based questions
- Prepare different results pages – With ScoreApp, you get to make them dynamic and packed full of value, showing different content and personalised tips based on each lead’s results

Step 3: Put that next phase in place
As seen before, this will look COMPLETELY different depending on what you need those webhooks for.
But to give you an example: if you’re building a quiz funnel, that next phase could be “nurturing your new leads with personalised email sequences.” So, craft emails that’ll help you:
- Welcome these new people into your world and tell them what they can expect
- Talk about each lead’s biggest challenge (why do you care about solving it?)
- Connect with them through stories, anecdotes, and real-life examples
- Build trust with case studies, reviews, and data, highlighting how you helped customers who used to be in a similar situation
- Create FOMO and urgency
- Make the right offer to each lead after they’ve been nurtured properly (like selling a specific digital product or inviting them on a call to discuss the challenges that came up through the quiz)
Whatever that post-quiz phase looks like for you, get it ready now on the relevant platform (because the next step is connecting the two through a webhook).
Step 4: Create a webhook to connect ScoreApp and your other tool
First things first: make sure your post-quiz phase involves a secure ULR (https) that can receive POST requests. Got it?
- On ScoreApp, go to the Integrate tab. Find the Webhook integration, and click Connect. Then, add the URL to which you want to receive webhooks
- You’ll then get to specify a secret key (optional but recommended, as it’ll allow you to securely validate the authenticity of each request) and decide which events you wish to receive
With ScoreApp, you can choose among 4 events: Quiz Started, Quiz Finished, Lead Details Updated, and Lead Signed Up. For example:
- Using “Lead Signed Up” as your event, create a webhook that adds the name and email address of that quiz participant to your CRM
- Using “Quiz Finished” as your event, create a webhook that, through your email marketing platform, triggers different sequences based on their results
Write the right webhook code for this, customising the type of event and including all the data you wish to exchange between your tools (so that you’re always triggering the right next step for each lead). Then, paste that code into the tool you’re using after your quiz.
Your basic webhook code is:
{
“event_name” : “Event name”,
“data”: {} // – Response data
}
Could do with some examples of what this code can look like in practice? Check out our full webhook integration guide.
Step 5: Test your webhooks, and keep optimising your quiz
Ensure your webhooks work smoothly before rolling out your quiz: are they triggering the right action? Consider testing this with a dummy email address, too.
Once everything’s good to go, launch your quiz (exciting!) but don’t forget to monitor your analytics regularly, both on ScoreApp and your other tool.
This will show you how your audience is engaging with your quiz and next steps. If you find any leaks (like people dropping off after the same quiz question or unsubscribing from an email sequence too soon), fix it.
That way, you’ll keep improving your small funnel and getting the very most out of your webhooks.
Start strong with a strategic ScoreApp quiz

Webhooks can trigger the right next step based on different events or data, but before creating one, you need the first element: your quiz.
