No matter what industry you work in, lead generation is a business-critical activity.
Webinars can give you a great opportunity to generate and convert new leads. We regularly run webinars on a variety of subjects, including lead generation, lead magnets, and how to set up a ScoreApp quiz for your business.
With a webinar, you can build rapport and trust with prospects by providing them with loads of value, and you capture their details so you can follow up individually with bespoke offers afterward.
One of the most challenging parts of running a webinar is the first step: getting people to sign up to attend!
To give your webinar the best chance of success, you need to set up an effective landing page.
This landing page needs to do two key things: provide compelling reasons for people to attend and make signing up as easy as possible.
ScoreApp’s ready-to-go templates make setting up your webinar landing page simple. We created a landing page for a recent lead generation webinar using our webinar registration template, which we will use as an example of best practices throughout this blog.
Here are the key elements your webinar landing page needs to get more attendees.
Clear and compelling headline
Statistics show that around 80% of people only read a headline on a website page – only 20% will read the rest of your content.
You can assume a similar statistic for your webinar landing page, so the first thing people need to see is a clear and compelling headline.
Your headline needs to explain, as clearly and succinctly as possible:
- What your webinar is about
- Why people should attend
- The value they receive by attending
For example, on our Lead Generation webinar landing page, we used the following headline:
“7 Powerful Strategies to Get More Leads”
This title shows the power of being specific when writing your webinar title. Immediately, the reader will know that by attending this webinar, they will walk away with 7 new strategies to generate more leads for their business.
Here are a few other examples:
- X Ways to improve your public speaking skills
- Make an extra £X per month with a second income stream
- X content ideas to triple your email conversion rates
Alternatively, you can create intrigue by making a big, bold statement. Our founder Daniel Priestley previously hosted a webinar called The Million Dollar Lead Magnet.
This webinar was super popular because people couldn’t resist signing up to find out more about a lead magnet that could generate seven figures of revenue for their business!
Strong subheadline
Next, you need to reinforce the impact of your headline with a strong subheadline.
Your subheadline shouldn’t repeat what you’ve said in your headline. Instead, it should go into a little more detail about the webinar you are hosting.
For example, for our lead generation webinar, we used the following subheading:
A 90-minute Masterclass on how to get more traffic to your lead magnet landing page (for free)
This additional context means that people understand:
- The format of the webinar
- The exact topic being covered
- That the webinar is free!
Concise description of the webinar
Next, it’s time to give people a more detailed overview of what to expect by attending your webinar.
Don’t overdo it with paragraph after paragraph of text. If you cover everything on your landing page, people won’t feel the need to attend your webinar!
Instead, write an overview of the key points you will cover and their benefits, and make sure it is easy to scan. You can do this with a short paragraph or using bullet points.
Our ready-to-go webinar landing page template is fully customisable, so you can set up the sections however you like.
For example, on our recent lead generation webinar landing page, we kept things simple by using icons and short statements to pull out the key benefits attendees will get from coming along, followed by four slightly longer bullet points that go into more detail about the content covered.
By providing this overview, the reader will understand if the content is relevant to them, and will be much more likely to sign up.
Highlight the date and time
It might seem obvious, but this is an easy point to overlook!
Make sure you highlight the date and time as quickly as possible on your webinar landing page.
This is a key factor for people’s attendance, so it needs to be clear from the beginning when your webinar is taking place.
If you attract clients from different time zones, list the time in each location.
If there’s not long left to sign up, or you have limited spaces remaining, you could include a countdown timer under the date and time to add a sense of urgency.
Engaging visuals to reflect the webinar topic
Good copy on your webinar landing page should be complemented by eye-catching images.
You could either include a picture of yourself or design something using a tool like Canva that illustrates what you will be talking about.
The most important thing is to ensure the visuals you use are relevant. Everyone loves pictures of your dog, but unless your webinar is about them, they won’t help you sign up attendees!
Share teaser videos
Instead of sharing an image, you could record a short teaser video to introduce your webinar.
Video content can be a great way of building rapport with your prospective attendees, and a different method of sharing an introduction to what your webinar is going to be about.
Much like the text on your webinar landing page, any video you record should be short and succinct. We recommend 90 seconds or less, so you only cover the key points and encourage people to register their details.
On our lead generation webinar landing page, you can see how our CMO Martin has used a teaser video to clearly explain what the webinar is about, and what people will learn if they sign up.
You can easily embed videos into your landing pages using the ScoreApp builder.
Prominent call to action (CTA)
You want to make it easy for people to sign up for your webinar, so include a prominent call to action (CTA) that makes it immediately obvious what they need to do next.
If you make people read loads of text before giving them a way of signing up, they could easily lose interest before entering their details.
ScoreApp has a built-in lead capture, so people can easily register as attendees using their name and email address.
We recommend repeating the same Call to Action throughout the page for consistency. Try to feature it a couple of times, but avoid adding it to every section as this can look spammy.
Here are a few example CTAs you could use:
- “Reserve my spot”
- “Join X on the webinar”
- “Save me a seat!”
- “Register now”
Social proof to build credibility
You’ve told people all the reasons why they should attend your webinar – but sometimes, they might still need an extra push.
One of the best ways to build credibility on your webinar landing page is to include social proof.
Testimonials, for example, can be very effective. Think about using a quote that you’ve received from a client you’ve worked with in the past – especially if they are a name that prospective attendees will recognise. Try to include the results in the testimonial, as this will help position you as an expert in your field.
Alternatively, you could include positive feedback from prior webinar attendees, with a specific quote about how valuable attendees found the content.
You could also add a banner of client logos to your landing page to show the types of businesses you have worked with previously. This again helps to build credibility – especially if you are trying to attract similar clients to your webinar.
The webinar registration template comes with ready-made sections for testimonials and client logos.
Speaker bio
Finally, you should provide an introduction to the speaker(s) at your event.
A speaker bio provides another way to build social proof on your webinar landing page. It should explain who you are and highlight your experience, expertise, and credibility.
Don’t think of this like a CV. Only highlight the most relevant points to the webinar you are running, as Martin did on our lead generation webinar landing page.
We also recommend including a headshot for each speaker.
Other things to consider when creating your webinar landing page
Now you’ve nailed the content for your webinar landing page. But you aren’t quite finished yet…
Here are a few other best practices to consider to get more attendees:
It’s mobile-responsive
If your webinar landing page isn’t mobile responsive, it will completely change how the content is presented to prospective attendees.
The information could be in the wrong order, content blocks could overlap each other, and buttons may not be clickable. This is a surefire way to stop people from signing up!
Before your landing page goes live, test how it looks and performs on multiple devices.
If you use ScoreApp to build your webinar landing pages or quizzes, this isn’t a concern. Our pages are always optimised for mobile devices.
There’s no navigation bar
Your webinar landing page has one goal: generate sign-ups.
If you have a navigation bar set up (as you would on your website, for example) or provide links to other pages, you can distract people from the event you are trying to promote.
This could result in them clicking on another page they think is interesting before signing up, and it is very hard to capture this traffic again.
Set up an engaging thank-you page
Someone signs up for your webinar. But what happens next?
We recommend redirecting them to an engaging thank-you page!
You can use your thank-you page to remind people of the date and time of your webinar. You could also include a post-sign-up quiz on this page, so you can gather even more information about your attendees to tailor the content to their needs as much as possible.
Our webinar registration template includes a thank you page, where people receive:
- A confirmation of their registration
- Their quiz score
- Instructions on how to check their email and add the webinar to their calendar
There is also a section to add bonus material, such as an exclusive video that provides some more insight into the webinar content.
Your email confirmation is set up
Finally, you need to make sure the details are sent to each attendee by email.
You can set this up by integrating your email tool into your landing page and setting up an automated email including the date, time, and webinar joining details.
You should also consider setting up an email sequence that sends regular reminders to attendees in the run-up to the event, alongside some other value-based content to keep them engaged.
One of the core benefits of ScoreApp is that it can be integrated with all your favourite tools, making it easy to set up email marketing sequences and segment your audience.
